Watching the English: The Hidden Rules of English Behaviour, by Kate Fox
By Toria Burrell, 2/19/09Very fascinating. Very witty + laugh out loud funny in places. A little annoying in other places - especially the tone of contempt in the over-generalizations about Americans.
But, despite this, the book is really helpful for me to understand myself - to dissect my "Englishness" and recognize what aspects of my personality have been shaped by my roots, my culture, etc. And interesting too, to realize why I was always drawn to America, and why I am probably happier living in the US than if I'd stayed in England.
