Unedited version of my Video Interview, Feb 6th, 2025

My journey as a Mum of an Autistic Child

I was recently asked by my friend Emily if I would mind doing an interview with her on Zoom, about my journey as a parent of an autistic child.

Emily is a professional occupational therapist who I met 21 years ago, when Tristan was 3 years old. She was on his team of therapists at the time, and we became good friends over the years.

She moved to New Zealand a number of years ago, and still continues her work as a therapist in New Zealand. She runs her own clinic and helps children and adults with a variety of mental health issues and challenges.

She wanted to interview me, as she felt it would be helpful for her clients to hear from another parent who has gone through 24 years now of bringing up a child with autism.

I thought it would be good to share it here on my blog too, as an interesting and potentially helpful story...

Emily recorded this interview on Zoom, and will be editing it and sharing it on her website, with her clients. She said I was welcome to share it too. She will soon be sending me the final edited version of our face to face conversation.

But in the meantime, I also took this little recording with my phone, on the side, so that I would have my own unedited recording of our whole interview!

You can watch it either by clicking on the picture above, or clicking here:

And then, there's a 16 minute "epilogue", after the official interview was over... I kept my phone camera rolling because we continued with more interesting thoughts...

Then see my following post - "Tips, Tricks & Reasons for Our Marriage Success & Raising an Autistic Child" which I wrote in preparation for this interview!
